First steps after a breach letter

When you've received a letter saying your personal data has been lost, stolen or breached, you may want to look for an independent assessment of what's been lost and what you can do about it. Here are a few starting points.

The Federal Trade Commission has a good, simple web wizard that lays out the issues and options pretty well:

The Washington State Attorney General has a page listing all the breach notifications they have received, along with some tips and reading material.
